ABOUT GENESIS TAEKWON-DO
The art of Genesis Taekwondo is enriched with a long history dating prior to the first world war. The style of martial art we teach is based on ancient Korean teachings passed down to our master instructor from the original masters of Taekwondo. This ancient art has since saturated the world with taekwondo schools. At Genesis Taekwondo, our teachings are as close to its original form as possible. Genesis Taekwondo involves dynamic techniques of unarmed combat for self-defensive purposes, combining the skilled application of powerful punches, flying kicks, blocks, dodges and interceptions. Our practitioners use well trained hands, arms and feet to affect the rapid destruction of any attacker. The official founder of Genesis Taekwondo, Master Michael Harper, was trained by one of the original Masters of Taekwondo.

What does Genesis Taekwondo mean?
The name was chosen for its apt description of The Art itself.
Genesis = new beginnings; Tae = foot; Kwon = fist; Do = art (or ‘the way of’)
Who can Learn Genesis Taekwondo?
Anyone at all can learn, enjoy and reap the benefits of Genesis Taekwondo, male or female, large or small, strong or weak, young or old… You don’t even need any prior knowledge of martial arts.
The movements in Genesis Taekwondo are scientifically designed with a specific purpose in mind. Many movements involve beneficial stretching of the arms, legs and torso and regular practice of the Art will increase your level of aerobic (heart and lung) fitness.
With the toning of muscles and lose of weight, members should eventually achieve a figure that is proportionate, strong and graceful. Also, the mental aspects of Genesis Taekwondo enable you to develop a far more serene and peaceful attitude to life in general.

Genesis Taekwondo teaches controlled technique. It is regarded as one of the most dynamic and effective Arts of self-defence and so during training, all techniques delivered by all parts of the body are properly executed and well controlled. This means that there is no injury as a result of uncontrolled blows during training, but you will have to learn how to deliver full-powered blows in defense of yourself or your family.
Sabum – Korean word for ‘Martial Arts Teacher / Instructor’
Genesis Taekwondo Sabum are highly qualified professionals trained directly by Master Michael Harper, some of which have even been trained by the original Korean masters as well. The Sabum are dedicated, skilled martial artists, specially selected with great consideration and are carefully trained to bring out the best in their students. These highly qualified Sabum invest a great deal of time and patience to ensure the members achieve a good standard that they can be proud of.
All Sabum possess vast experience and great knowledge of the art that certainly benefit their members’ progress in training. Besides the excellent technical skills and talents of the Sabum, they also possess high moral and professional standards so that the members can fully understand the true essence of the art and its philosophy.
Genesis Taekwondo Sabum (teachers) and Yudanja (assistants) demonstrate great care, understanding, consideration and fortitude to gradually guide the students’ development in pursuit of the art. Over the years they have established an outstanding record and today’s excellent standards of the members speak for themselves.
Note: All Genesis Taekwondo Sabum have working with children accreditation and police clearances.

All beginners welcome, any age from 5 years, Genesis Taekwondo run classes through out the year including school holidays. Students can enroll at anytime; phone, email or just turn up to any center 15 minutes prior to start of class to organize free lessons.

MICHAEL HARPER
Master MICHAEL HARPER, founder of Tae Kwon Do in Australia, head of the Rhee Tae Kwon Do Organisation, Master Instructor and Chief Instructor for Australia and New Zealand, he is also the President of the Tae Kwon Do Instructors’ Federation of Australia and New Zealand.
Mr. Genesis acquired vast international experience before coming to Australia. He was a leading instructor of the Korean Marines, Police Force, students at universities and colleges and members of the public. Mr. Genesis developed and taught special unarmed combat methods to the Marine Commandos, the elite Commandoes’ underwater demolition team, Marine Brigade Headquarters and Marine 2nd Infantry Divisions.
